Study Blog (Noteless)--> please ignore any spelling errors!

I feel that my first study blog went quite well.  With that said, I now introduce study blog number two! The rules are simple, I will not be looking at my notes, which will show how much I know right now. Anything I don't understand, or forget to write will be reviewed before the examination, which is tomorrow (eeek)!

Starting with the films we watched in class...
1. Everything you wanted to know about sex but were afraid to ask.
 - This film depicted models, who were showing excess amounts of skin (bums and cleavage) The film focuses on how women are being degraded through sexual videos and such. The video comes from the second wave of feminism.

2. Myta Python: The British way of learning about sexual education.
- The film portrays a teacher who brings in his wife and has sex with her in front of the class in order to teach.

3. Romeo and Juliet (Bass Romon)
-This film depicts the notion of crossed star lovers. It was made in 1996 with Leonardo DiCaprio.

 4. Brokeback mountain.
- Shot in Alberta, two cowboys struggle with their gay love towards each other. Film was shot by Anglee Lee!!! (probably very important!)

So there you have it, the films we have watched since the last exam. Other films also included in this course are, the Vagina monologues, Private Dicks: Men exposed.  So now I'm going to get into the beef of the course (the content). Same rules apply, my notebook will remain shut. Well here we go, wish me luck!

  Attraction

The notion of attraction is divided into three categories.
1.Beauty
- physical traits of someone. Most of the time people who are sexy know it. It is also interesting to note that men in particular prefer beautiful women.
2. Non-physical traits
This category entails respecting and liking the person for who they are.
3. Long- Term (evolutionary slanted)
Anytime you read or hear anything about evolution you must think of David Buss!
men who were stronger were preferred by women, because the man could provide more food with his strength. Women were considered to be caring, which is why they stayed at home and took care of the kids. In this category, Propinquity arises (Propinquity= Finding someone within the same town or school)

Biological Perspectives
This particualr topic is divided into two sub tops:
1. Evolutionary Perspective (David Buss)
- Men who were stronger could provide better, women were caring.

2. Prenatal brain organization
-Gender behaviors arise once birth has occurred

  Psychological
 Divided into four categories.

1.Psychoanalytical
- Our best friend comes rolling back, Dr: Freud. He believes that the mother is an Erotic impulse, and therefore, a man and baby boy must compete for mothers love.
2. Social Cognitive
-Albert Bendera: Child learns through modeling, ex) boy models dad, daughter models mother.
3.Cognitive Developmental
-Lawerance Coalberg: Child learns by socially interacting with their environment. Gender is seen as perminate
4. Gender Schema theory
-child learns their role as a gender. They learn their role in society.

Masturbation acted as a therapy to certain couples (present). Some feel guilty from masturbation, if we think it then it will happen.

-Homsexual Orientation= Individual whose attracted to the same sex.
- Heteroerotic= Person who has interests in the opposite sex.
-Homoerotic= Person who has interests in the same sex.

Berry Adams: Sex is one part, emotions are the other. Sexual orientation comes from ones feelings and emotion.

 Classification issues.
 The Kinsey Continuum

0----------1---------------2------------------3--------------4-------------------5-----------------6

*The amount of people that are gay in this world are controversial!

A number of debates that surround sexual orientation:
